KINGSTON, Jamaica (October 30, 2024) - Champion two-year-old of 2022, Mojito a grey colt by Savoy Stomp out of Fiftyshadesofray, trained by Richard Azan, makes a return to competitive racing after a recuperating period of 336.
Mojito, who last raced in the 2023 Moutett Mile (December 2), finishing 12th, 23 lengths behind winner Rough Entry, has been recovering at the Azan stables for his maladies.
Regarded as one of the best of his three-year-old, Mojito dominated early in his three-year-old season, winning the Prince Consort Stakes (7 furlongs), The Kingston (7 ½ furlongs), and the 2000 Guineas (one mile).
Mojito then faltered in the 10-furlong St Leger, finishing a woeful eighth, 30 lengths behind the winner.
He returned with a semblance of his previous form, in the Jamaica Derby (12 furlongs) leading from the start to the top of the lane, then regressed to third behind eventual winner Ability.
Mojito’s long-awaited return will be in an Overnight Allowance call going six furlongs.
