KINGSTON, Jamaica - Trainer Paul Hylton saddled his first winner of the season after his charge Milkman won a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000-$300,000) spread that also included six-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of four) at a distance of 5 furlongs (1,000m) round on Monday, August 7, 2023.
Milkman, under Reyan Lewis, shot to the lead at the start of the event and held that advantage ahead of Fabulosity (Matthew Bennett), Buzz Assault (Shavon Townsend), and Smoke Haze (Oshadane Robinson) going into the half-mile (800m) turn.
Milkman continued to show the way and then began to open up on rivals approaching the distance and with nobody really coming forward in deep stretch, the seven-year-old grey gelding won easily by 4 ¾ lengths at the wire.
Fabulosity finished in second place ahead of Buzz Assault in third spot. The final time for the race was 1:03.4 (24.0 x 48.3).
