KINGSTON, Jamaica - Former Derby winner, and a two-time Diamond Mile champion Seeking My Dream, now deceased, after a short stint as a stallion was honoured with the accolade of having an offspring in the winners' enclosure.

Mila Kay, a three-year-old bay filly by Seeking My Dream out of Track Rose, trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins in the saddle, came late in a seven-furlong maiden call to nip Solace by a neck. Mila Kay was facing the starter for the eighth occasion, and was bred by James Chen.

The success as a locally bred stallion by Seeking My Dream follows closely on the win by two-year-old Enthusiasm, a filly by Wow Wow out of City Flight. Wow Wow is a locally bred stallion.

Reacting to the success of Seeking My Dream, owner during his racing career, Derrick Smith said that he was pleased.

“Everyone knowns that Seeking My Dream is very special to me. I watched the race on the live stream, and was filled with joy when Mila Kay got the job done.

“Mila Kay is from the first crop of Seeking My Dream. He served twice and produced two fillies, Mila Kay and Dove in his first crop. It was pleasing to see Mila Kay winning as it brought back sweet memories for me as I remember the excellence of Seeking My Dream,” Smith shared.

In the race itself, Mila Kay raced well of the pace. When the leaders entered the straight for the final two furlongs, Mila Kay got going on the wide outside and was able to snatch victory on the line.
