KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was a day to remember for apprentice rider Kawise Gentle as after graduating from Jockeys’ School and starting to ride in October of last year, the young man just earned his first winner moments ago in the fifth of nine races at Caymanas Park. AND WHAT A WINNER IT WAS!
Gentle guided home the Carl Anderson, trained and bred, Twilight Storm to an upset win at damaging odds of 99-1 for all bettors of the exotic wagers. Given that the tote at the Park only allows odds up to 99-1, the actual starting odds for Twilight Storm was closer to 179-1.
Twilight Storm paid a whopping $8,982 to win and $2,173 to place.
The combination of winner Twilight Storm and second placed (Cruise Lava Cruise – Dane Nelson – 2-1) paid the magical figure of $92,011.
