KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing against older horses for the first time, Supreme Soul the 2019 Triple Crown winner firmly established himself as one of the leading contenders for the upcoming Superstakes on October 5 with quite a dazzling run at the Open Allowance level at nine furlongs and 25 yards.
Ridden by his usual rider Shane Ellis who went half-a-kilogramme heavier than the allotted 54.0 kgs, Supreme Soul drawn at one in the field of six runners went immediately to the lead with probably his main rival Master of Hall slowly out.
Down the backstretch it was still, Supreme Soul until Superluminal (Omar Walker) went by leaving the six-furlong marker with Ellis completely unperturbed allowing Supreme Soul to settle.
Then at the three-furlong point Supreme Soul started to bring Ellis closer and closer to Superluminal with both going wide together in the straight.
With Superluminal still a touch in front, Ellis got pumping and Supreme Soul responded to draw clear winning in the end by 1 1/12 lengths in a fast time of 1:54.1.
It should be noted that the last time Supreme Soul won at the same distance of nine furlongs and 25 yards on March 19, he recorded a time 1:55.3.
This was Supreme Soul’s eighth win from eight starts this year.
