KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Marlon Brown-trained March and Shoot, skilfully ridden by jockey Matthew Bennett, triumphed at the critical moment, winning a race for four-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of four) as well as an imported four-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of three), covering 5 furlongs straight with appealing odds of 15-1.
March and Shoot, racing without the figure-8 off, couldn't match the early pace and trailed behind speedsters Jaguar (Paul Francis), A Gift From Ben (Tevin Foster), and KP Choice (Raddesh Roman), who battled for the lead.
As they crossed the dummy rails onto the main track for the last two furlongs, KP Choice took sole leadership while March and Shoot accelerated, growing more formidable with each stride.
Capitalizing on his momentum, March and Shoot arrived just in time to outpace KP Choice at the finish line, winning by a neck. Jaguar secured third place in a final time of 1:00.2 (23.2 x 46.2).
