KINGSTON, Jamaica - It was another plunder of the opposition by the rapidly advancing four-year-old filly Make Up Artist.

In registering her third-consecutive victory from three starts, this time at 1300 metres in a Restricted Allowance IV race for four-year-olds and upwards non-winners of three on Monday, June 21, Make Up Artist did so with consummate ease under the guidance of Anthony Thomas for trainer Jason DaCosta. The margin of victory was 12 ¼ lengths, with the 6 ½ furlongs timed in a noticeable 1:20.3 on a slow track with splits of 23.2, 47.1, 1:12.4.

Make Up Artist by Adore The Gold - Lipstick Lily, owned by Carlton Watson, has now registered an aggregate margin of victory of 39½ lengths for her three wins over distances of 1,100 (twice) and 1300 metres. Attorney General (Aaron Chatrie) and Lava Boy (Dane Dawkins) finished second and third, respectively.

“We expected her to win by 10 to 12 lengths competing at this level, and she did what we expected her to do. Make Up Artist is well-bred and is a lovely filly who looks as though she is going places, and the trainer is taking his time with her in her further development.

“She has just won three races on the trot and with her present progress we are expecting her to get past the non-winner of four stage to be at the Overnight Allowance level — and that is where the real tussle begins.

Notwithstanding, at present she is in excellent condition and our hope is she will continue to improve much further and go on to better things,” Watson said in a post-race interview.
