KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh race of ten on the Saturday card of February 22 is named in honour of the current Horse of the Year, Funcaandun.
The event features four three- and four-year-olds (non-winners of four races) and three-year-old and up imported horses (non-winners of three) running a mile.
Six horses are entered to compete, with The Quick Galloper providing insights on their potential performances below:
1 - BRENDA BOY: Previously defeated by Mack and Rome in December, Brenda Boy secured his third victory on January 26 at a mile, the same distance as Saturday’s race. He may need to wait for a more favourable opportunity.
2 - MS CHERRY: A winner at seven furlongs in her last outing, MS Cherry has shown inconsistent form recently. Significant improvement will be required for her to be successful in this race.
3 - MACK AND ROME: Known for his consistency over 14 career starts, Mack And Rome finished a close second in his 2025 debut, losing by just half a length. He prefers to race from the front, although he may face challenges doing so here. With blinkers off, he remains a solid contender.
4 - MAIN MISTRESS: After a strong performance and win just seven days ago at 7 ½ furlongs, Main Mistress is on a trajectory of improvement with a career record of two wins from four starts. She also tends to set the pace, making her a compelling choice.
5 - ALLEGIANCE: In a competitive rivalry with Mack And Rome, Allegiance brings the most experience to the line-up with 16 career starts. He finds himself several pounds better off against Mack And Rome and should not be overlooked.
6 - UNRULY MO: The only three-year-old in this field, Unruly Mo comes into this race with one win under his belt. While he is still developing, he will likely need more time to mature in this competitive setting.
With this line-up, the race promises to be an exciting contest with several key contenders. The winning vote is given to Main Mistress.
