When The Quick Galloper interviewed trainer Peter-John Parsard before the running of the August 3, Jamaica Oaks at his stables he said off camera that one of the horses in his barn to watch was Main Mistress.
“I have quite a few horses in the stables with potential but the one I am looking forward to racing is the imported filly Main Mistress,” Parsard said.
Now the trainer has everyone watching as after a promising debut on August 3, when she finished third behind Trust Fund Baby and Fire Cracker going six furlongs, Main Mistress returned on Saturday, September 14, 2024, to record her victory.
The three-year-old American-bred with Reyan Lewis in the saddle made it a pillar to post session to win a native-bred three-year-old (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-old and upward (maidens) at seven furlongs by 11 lengths.
Main Mistress finished her Saturday assignment in a time of 1:25.3 (24.0 x 48.0 x 1:12.4), with Zulu Warrior (Tevin Foster) second and Oil Machine third.
Main Mistress left her starting barrier with gusto, taking the lead and ahead of Oil Machine and Hotbred Scammer (Paul Francis), the latter having recovered from a shaky start. Down the backstretch, Main Mistress maintained her rhythm, showcasing her galloping ability.
Thereafter Main Mistress progressed smoothly under a hand ride to seal the victory.
