KINGSTON, Jamaica - Division One of the King’s Plate, a three-year-old and up Overnight Allowance race, marks the return of one of the top locally bred horses in recent years, Mahogany.
The race will be run over seven and a half furlongs, featuring 10 entries:
- CALIFORNIA GOLD: After a mixed bag of performances in Overnight Allowance, this horse may benefit from additional time to develop.
- DIVINE FORCE: Racing with the blinkers off and the visor on, this foreign-bred horse last claimed an Overnight win in February 2024. Recent workouts indicate progress, and he appears ready to be a strong contender.
- MR SENATOR: Gradually becoming acclimated to this level, Mr. Senator faces a challenging race but could be a viable pick for the superfecta and hi-five.
- MAHOGANY: Coming off a long layoff of 225 days since his last race on August 10, 2024, Mahogany is undoubtedly the class of the field. While the 7 ½ furlongs may pose a challenge for his return, he still has what it takes to compete effectively against these rivals.
- COOKIE DAY N NIGHT: This horse has been performing reliably in Overnight races, making a spot on the board achievable.
- NEO STAR: After a poor start in his last outing on March 8, Neo Star has been well-prepared for this race. With the stable of trainer Anthony Nunes in top condition and a weight allowance from the apprentice, he deserves serious consideration for victory.
- ANTARCTICA: Facing stiffer competition, Antarctica is in a challenging position against more seasoned foes.
- WHIZZ KIDD: Likely striving for a place on the board, Whizz Kidd will find it tough to achieve this goal.
- SUPER ALEX: Still navigating the complexities of this class, Super Alex is in the learning phase.
- RAINSVILLE: Having shown solid performances in a higher class, Rainsville holds a realistic chance of winning, particularly with the apprentice's weight allowance.
