Veteran racehorse Mahogany reaffirmed his talent with victory in the Easter Sprint Cup at Caymanas Park on Monday, April 21, 2025. The eight-year-old, trained by Ian Parsard and guided by apprentice jockey Tajay Suckoo, displayed his usual speed and resilience, crossing the finish line 1 ¾ lengths ahead of Unbelievable Force, ridden by Raddesh Roman, and Fearless Soul, partnered with Eric Haughton.

Competing in an Overnight Allowance event, Mahogany left no doubt about his enduring class, commanding the 5 ½ furlong race with a final time of 1:06.1. The splits were 23.3, 47.2, and 59.3.

Parsard was full of praise for both horse and rider, stating, “It was a very good performance by Mahogany and a very, very good ride by the apprentice Suckoo.”

Looking ahead, Parsard emphasized that Mahogany’s future would be dictated by his health and well-being. “I think with Mahogany, it’s day by day frankly. I mean, we don’t want to make a long-range plan for Mahogany. I think for him he has done so well for us that his well-being is number one, so we will assess him. If he stays sound and can be competitive, we will run him but if not, he goes to retirement,” Parsard said.

In the race itself, Mahogany engaged in an early battle for the lead with She’s That Girl, ridden by Jordan Barrett, and Unbelievable Force. As the half-mile marker approached, Mahogany edged ahead of Unbelievable Force while She’s That Girl faded.

The decisive moment came as Unbelievable Force challenged Mahogany in the stretch run. The two dueled fiercely, but Suckoo’s handling ensured Mahogany remained balanced and strong on the inside rail. In the final furlong, Mahogany found another gear, surging ahead decisively. Unbelievable Force put in a commendable effort, securing second place.

With this latest triumph, Mahogany now boasts 19 career victories, alongside eight second-place finishes and five third-place finishes from 37 starts. His lifetime earnings have surpassed $20.3 million.
