KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh race on Sunday, June 25, 2023, will be contested in honour of champion jockey, now deceased, Hubert ‘Chinna’ Bartley.
The event is an Overnight Allowance call going 7 ½ furlongs, in which six horses have been nominated to run.
The Quick Galloper’s Analysis is provided below for readers.
1 – POWER has done well to reach the Overnight Allowance Grade. This lightly raced four-year-old chestnut colt enters the class for the first time, and will therefore need more time to secure a win among these.
2 – FURTHER AND BEYOND races with the visor off. This former Horse of the Year made a noticeable return to competitive racing after a rehabilitation break of over a year. That was over a mile on June 10, when Further And Beyond under new management set off like a sacred hare going a mile, and eventually faltered in the final furlong. On Sunday, having the benefit of travelling half a furlong shorter, against less formidable rivals, Further And Beyond has been given clearance for another career victory.
3 – CRIMSON is still finding it difficult won win in this grade. Can best hope for a second or third-place finish.
4 – GREEN GOLD RUSH is quickly finding his way in this grouping but it is too soon to contemplate a win.
5 – GAMBLER has no conceivable chance of winning.
6 – D HEAD CORNERSTONE getting closer, and will eventually win in this grade, but not on Sunday.
