KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh of eight events on Sunday, October 8, 2023, features a race for three and four-year-old locally bred horses who have not won four races and foreign horses who have not won three.
The two-turn race covers a distance of nine furlongs and 25 yards, with six three-year-old horses participating.
Below is The Quick Galloper's analysis of the six runners and their chances of winning for readers' consideration.
1 – RHYTHM BUZZ, a bay colt born on April 22, is the offspring of Buzz Nightmare and River Rhythm. Trained by Vincent Atkinson and ridden by Raddesh Roman, Rhythm Buzz will race without the figure-eight. After a 99-day break following a fourth-place finish in the Jamaica St Leger, he is well-prepared for this race. With no issues regarding distance, Rhythm Buzz has a solid chance at victory.
2 – MODERN MIRACLE, a chestnut colt born on January 2, is by Hedge Fund out of Sound of Miracle. Trained by Howard Bailey and ridden by Dane Dawkins, Modern Miracle will race wearing a visor but without cheek pieces. Recently claimed, his new trainer opted to place him back with his age group rather than in claiming races. Modern Miracle faces stiff competition in this race.
3 – MRS LYNDHURST is a chestnut filly born on March 16. She is the daughter of Soul Warrior and Lady Tarkari and is trained by Steven Todd with Javaniel Patterson as jockey. Mrs Lyndhurst finished second behind the out-of-class Geolithic on September 16. To emerge victorious on Sunday, she will need to run flawlessly against this competitive field.
4 – DIVINE FORCE is an American bay colt born on February 11. He descends from Alternation and Dance America and is trained by Philip Feanny with Reyan Lewis aboard. After being bested by Atlantic Convoy eight days ago, Divine Force runs in his first race going longer than 6 ½ furlongs. However, distance should not pose a problem, and he is expected to perform well.
5 – STRIKE SMART, born on February 16, is a bay colt sired by Wannabeaplayer out of Profile. Trained by Phillip Elliott and ridden by Samantha Fletcher, Strike Smart consistently gives his all in every race. While considered an underdog for victory, his presence will undoubtedly be felt throughout the competition.
6 – ESSENTIAL QUALITY is an April 16-born chestnut filly from Sensational Slam out of Texas Missy. Trained by Oral Hayden and ridden by Tevin Foster, she achieved a surprising win (30-1) in the 9.5-furlong Winston Griffiths Classic on September 2. Essential Quality is likely to take the lead early in an attempt to secure victory. As a rapidly improving horse, her performance should be closely monitored.
