KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh race on Saturday, October 7, 2023, is a two-year-old call at 5 ½ furlongs in which locally bred juveniles come up against foreigners for the first time in 2023.
Six horses are entered, five trained by champion Jason DaCosta, and one by Paul Swaby.
The Quick Galloper’s analysis is provided below in draw order.
1 – HIMAYA is a roan filly (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Raksha, trained by Jason DaCosta with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. The most raced juvenile this season, who is way beyond her calling.
2 - GRECIAN LIGHT is a bay filly (USA April 4) by Girvin out of Mo Zin, trained by Paul Swaby with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Note, Girvin is by Tale of Ekati out of Catch The Moon, while Mo Zin is by Uncle Mo out of My Cousin Zinny. This filly has caught to eyes at exercise, with reports suggesting that she is of much worth. One from which a good debut is expected.
3 – BANADURA is a bay filly (March 21) by Casual Trick out of Ezperanza, trained by Jason DaCosta with Abigail Able aboard. Has a career record of one win from one start. That win by Banadura was achieved over three furlongs, now she steps up to the round course at 5 ½ furlongs, and she will have to show some improvement to win. Banadura based on her winning effort is one with definite class, and with her riding with a claim, the light weight should greatly assist her effort on Saturday.
4 - COME HOME TO ME is a bay filly (January 29) by Northern Giant out of Heart of Gold, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis aboard with Javaniel Patterson doing the riding duties. Coming along nicely at exercise, but is not quite ready.
5 - DIGITAL ONE is a bay filly (USA February 24) by Uncle Lino out of Legal Redemption, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis holding a number one paper. Note, that Uncle Lino is by Indian Cruise out of Playa Maya, while Legal Redemption is by Grand Reward out of Spunky Sparrow. This foreigner has been stopping the clocks at exercise, with railbirds suggesting that she is special. Only time will tell, whether or not she will transfer her morning endeavours to race day.
6 – LUCY IN THE SKY is a bay filly (March 23) by Liquidity out of Ta A Bay Yankee, trained by Jason DaCosta with Jerome Innis aboard. Has a career record of one one from two starts. Lucy In The Sky has shown progress, yet will have to wait.
