KINGSTON, Jamaica – As the three-year-olds continue to get in the experience needed for possible Classic honours, the seventh race on Saturday, January 20, 2024, provides the opportunity.

The seventh is a maiden special weight for fillies only in which, nine horses are entered.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is given below in this six-furlong contest.

1 – APLOMB is a chestnut filly (March 23) by Western Warrior out of Truly Trudy, trained by Tensang Chung with Matthew Bennett riding. Did well on debut (December 10, 2023), finishing fourth 5 ¾ lengths behind the winner Oh So Smart. The latter is present again, with no change expected. Aplomb should, however, put in an improved effort.

2 – BROWNIE BROWN is a chestnut filly (April 29) by Shackleville out of Alienate, trained by Winchester McIntosh, with Robert Halledeen holding the reins. Still coming to grips with age group rivals.

3 – VALLEY OF LOVE is a bay filly (March 30) by Spieth out of May Flower, trained by Phillip Parchment with Phillip Parchment aboard. Note, Valley of Love races with the blinkers on. This filly is learning the business of competing.

4 – LADY LAUREN is a bay filly (February 27) by Deputy Glitters out of Anna, trained by Steven Todd with Tevin Foster in the saddle. Note, Lady Lauren races with first-time Lasix. Made a noticeable start to her career on December 17, 2024, when she earned third place behind Interestntimesahead, with the latter going on to win the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes. Lady Lauren returns in good nick and will be a deciding factor.

5 – BUZZ MARIE is a chestnut filly (March 30) by Buzz Nightmare out of Free Marie, trained by Lincoln Lungs with Samantha Fletcher riding. Note, Buzz Marie races with the blinkers and tongue tie on. Not ready as yet.

6 – ROSETTA is a roan filly (April 6) by Bold Conquest out of Khadiliah, trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis holding the reins. This filly was making progress in her first four starts, until December 26 in the one-mile Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes. Then Rosetta was completely overwhelmed and finished last of ten. Rosetta has to return to form of old if she is to figure in this one.

7 – RACHEAL MANNIN is a chestnut filly (March 24) by Admiral Alex out of Ricqualia, trained by Enos Brown with Oneil Mullings aboard. This newcomer has been making some progress at exercise. She is expected to run well without winning.

8 – TEE OFF is a chestnut filly (March 2) by Sensational Slam out of Indian Bluff, trained by Ian Parsard with Dane Dawkins riding. In her lone start to date, Tee Off raced on the headlines in a seven-furlong contest on November 19, 62 days ago. There has been development in the mornings, with the railbirds giving an indication that Tee Off is primed to win.

9 – HIMAYA is a roan filly (March 23) by Casual Trick out of Raksha, trained by Jason DaCosta with Abigail Able in the saddle. By far the most experienced of this lot with eight starts. Notwithstanding, Himaya has no realistic chance of success.
