KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dane the “Warrior Chief” Nelson sealed a natural hat-trick of winners when he had to use all of his strength to bring home the 11-year-old Royal Vibes for trainer Alford Brown.
The always problematic at the gates Lord Ashton (Roger Hewitt) and Lazer Light (Oshane Nugent) took control of the early fractions before the former gained the advantage.
At this stage Nelson was pushing hard on the oldster Royal Vibes in fourth.
When they turned for home, it was now Royal Vibes on the outside of Lord Ashton.
The two were joined in combat with Nelson using his strength in a powerhouse ride to take the event by three-parts of a length over Lord Ashton. Key Witness (Jordan Barrett) was third.
Interestingly, Royal Vibes was racing for the 122nd occasion and was winning for the 12th time.
