Wins Allan ‘Billy’ Williams Memorial Trophy

KINGSTON, Jamaica – After being claimed on December 23, 2021, foreigner Legality returned to his usual stomping group and ran out the winner of the Overnight Allowance Allan ‘Billy’ Williams Memorial Trophy over seven furlongs at restraining odds of 7-1.

Matthew Bennett atop Legality wasted no time from the one draw in putting his mount on the lead and was immediately challenged by Crafty and Ready (Jordan Barrett). The pair carried the field for most of the way until with 3 ½ furlong to go, Bennett decided to push ahead and Legality responded by increasing his lead to two to three lengths.

Entering the straight, Legality was still way ahead of the rest and got home without any resistance, winning in a time of 1:25.4.

Curlin’s Affair (Robert Halledeen) was second with 6-5 favourite Crimson (Dane Dawkins) third.

Trained by Ray Phillips, Legality was the second winner on the day for Bennett.
