KINGSTON, Jamaica - Legacy Isle's season began on a disappointing note at the Miracle Man Cup on January 1, where expectations were high for Rohan Crichton's trainee. Unfortunately, the horse was pulled up during the race and did not complete the 7-furlong event.

However, his recent training has shown significant improvement, leading to great anticipation for his return on Saturday, March 22. Legacy Isle did not disappoint, putting forth an outstanding performance in the $1.25 million Omar Walker Trophy.

Under the skilled guidance of jockey Tevin Foster, the five-year-old American-bred bay horse secured an impressive 4¾-length victory in the Overnight Allowance race, which spanned five furlongs on the round course. He clocked a winning time of 1:00.1, with splits of 24.2 seconds for the first quarter and 48.0 seconds for the half.

This victory has kindled hopes for Legacy Isle’s future as a top contender. Following the win, Crichton revealed that their ultimate goal is to prepare for the prestigious Mouttet Mile in December, which boasts a purse of $300,000.

"He's 100 per cent right now," Crichton shared. "His next race should be sometime next month, and he will be moving up in class as we aim to qualify him for the Mouttet Mile. That's the plan."

Crichton expressed his relief and satisfaction with Legacy Isle's performance, especially after the challenges faced in his previous outing, where he suffered from tick fever. “This win is something we had hoped for; a solid foundation to build upon. I take full responsibility for missing the symptoms before,” he remarked.

“I watched the race, and for the most part, it looked easy for him. He needed a bit of urging in the last sixteenth, but overall, he seemed comfortable, which is what we wanted,” he added.

The race unfolded with Legacy Isle breaking smoothly and quickly taking command, leading the field into the half-mile turn. Chocomo, Joy Is Golden, and Supremasi closely followed. As they approached the homestretch, Legacy Isle maintained a brisk pace under a firm hold.

When Chocomo made a bid to challenge, Foster allowed Legacy Isle to extend, resulting in a powerful surge to the finish. Chocomo ultimately finished second, with Supremasi taking third.

This performance signals not only a strong comeback for Legacy Isle but also sets the stage for an ambitious campaign ahead.
