KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh race on Sunday, April 23, 2023, is dedicated to the memory of late trainer Aston Cammock.
The event is for locally bred four-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of three), and for imported four-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of two), going a mile.
The seven horses contesting this trophy event are assessed below by The Quick Galloper.
1 – SONNY T AND CHIPPY (race with the tongue tie on). Returns after a long break of 155 days. Sonny T And Chippy have been waited on and steadily prepared for this outing by his connections. The trip of a mile is of no issue for this four-year-old.
2 – LION OF EKATI is known for his inability to gallop with the early pace in his races, or even running just behind. This foreigner has raced 23 times with only a single victory for his efforts.
3 – FLY MESSENGER FLY is a participant in almost every party available. Fly Messenger Fly has raced 37 times with two ticks in her win column. Has been displaying the tendency of late to be effective over longer trips. A place on the board is the best offering for this filly.
4 – FYFFES PEN LIZ gets around in her races, especially in the latter stages. Will be running on once again.
5 – THE CITADEL has not shown anything of significance in his recent trips to the starting gates. Will have to show much more to win this one.
6 – LEGAL BOMB (races with the tongue tie on). Legal Bomb has not raced longer than 6 ½ furlongs in his last eight starts. Will be uncomfortable at a mile.
7 – SUNSET SILHOUTTE is the epitome of disappointment in her 21-race career. A mile is up her street and is given another chance at redemption.
