KINGSTON, Jamaica – The fifth race on Saturday, October 14, 2023, is a maiden call for three-year-olds at four furlongs.

Here's the Quick Galloper assessment of the eight horses entered for our website readers.

– ALTITUDE is a bay colt (April 3) by Strike While It’s Hot out of Miracle River, trained by Patrick Fong and ridden by Charlton Riley. Altitude will race with first-time Lasix. In his four starts, he hasn't shown significant form and may need more time.

– STORM BOY is a dark bay colt (March 27) by Storm Craft out of Empire Strikes Back, trained by Courtney Williams with Ramon Nepare aboard. Storm Boy debuts in this race and is expected to gain experience.

– LADY RAMDULARIE is a chestnut filly (May 5) by Midnight Hawk out of Lady Ramdularie, trained by Howard Jaghai and ridden by Tevin Foster. With nine starts under her belt, she represents the experience in this event. Consistent sprinting prowess makes her hard to deny at four furlongs.

– BABY WARRIOR is a chestnut filly (April 24) by Soul Warrior out of Beware Baby, trained by Ian Parsard with Ricardo Duhaney aboard. Despite being Supreme Soul's half-sister, Baby Warrior's small frame hasn't shown excitement in the mornings.

– DEADLY NIGHTSHADE is a grey filly (May 7) by Midnight Hawk out of Choo Choo Blue, trained by Michael Marlowe and ridden by Dane Dawkins. With inconsistent performances in her three runs so far, she still has a winning chance considering her rivals' quality.

– HEDGE CRAFT is a dark bay filly (May 14) by Hedge Fund out of Aretha, trained by Welsh Soutar with Chalrick Budhai aboard. This newcomer is still learning her trade.

– EXOTIC LIGHT is a bay filly (March 3) by Hedge Fund out of So Smooth, trained by Gary Griffiths with Devon A Thomas in the saddle. She has not raced in 230 days and may need time to adjust.

– SELENA TREASURE is a chestnut filly (April 11) by Sunshine N Shadow out of Selena, trained by Omar Williams and ridden by Raddesh Roman. She finished fourth in her debut (Sept 30), 3½ furlongs behind Chez Le-Vee, suggesting her worth. Selena Treasure should not be left out of exacta or quinella wagers.
