KINGSTON, Jamaica – The fourth race on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Caymanas Park is for three-year-olds non-winners of two for locally bred horses, and a maiden for imported three-year-olds coming down the five-furlong straight chute.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the likely outcome of this event in which eight horses are entered is published below with the participants listed in draw order.
1 – BLINKIN LIGHT is a bay colt (April 12) by Patton Proud out of Storm Girl, trained by Gary Griffiths with Shane Richardson in the saddle. This bay colt has now demonstrated anything of significance since his entry into the non-winners of two category. Will continue to learn.
2 – CITY HAWK is a bay filly (February 28) by Midnight Hawk out of Magic City, trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster aboard. City Hawk’s lone victory was earned over the straight course, He has been active on race days in recent times, is fit, and is poised for win number two.
3 – BAZINGA is a bay filly (April 15) by Successful Native out of Queen of Bagdad, trained by Philip Feanny with Oneil Mullings in the saddle. Started her racing career with a lot of promise, Bazinga has not raced in 154 days, meaning that she will need time to find her footing before winning becomes a reality.
4 – HERE COMES BEN is a chestnut colt (June 29) by Here Comes Ben out of Lost Springs, trained by Paul Swaby with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Stumbled at the start of his last effort on August 7. Kem has already shown a likeness for the straight course, with the opposition not as formidable as before, Kem has to be given serious recognition in this one.
5 – TIGERAMEDAT is a bay colt (USA February 13) trained by Spencer Chung with Everton Stone in the saddle. This foreigner has been moving well in the mornings, but the choice of rider does not inspire confidence.
6 – PHENOMENAL ONE is a chestnut colt (March 31) by Lion Tamer out of Darlin, trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Allen aboard. Phenomenal One took 12 starts to win his first race and now tries non-two for the first occasion. He will have to wait.
7 – BABLA is a chestnut colt (April 9) by Midnight Hawk out by Jennandrosesgirl, trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Enters this category for the first time, and will have to wait.
8 – DE LYE LA is a bay filly (February 25) by Bern Identity out of Along, trained by Ian Parsard with Reyan Lewis aboard. Has been missing from competitive racing for 133 days. De Lye La won her only race to date on her fourth time at the races at four furlongs. De Lye La will require time to find her footing.
