K J Express disqualified – Lala Diva gets in at 11-1 with Prince Holder

KINGSTON, Jamaica - K J Express (Christopher Mamdeen) conditioned by leading trainer Anthony Nunes after passing the post in first position was, following lengthy deliberations by the race day stewards disqualified and placed fifth for what was officially announced as causing interference and intimidation to his stable companion Kalahari (Daniel Thompson).

K J Express shot to the lead in the 5-furlong round Restricted Allowance 111 event but when rounding the corner at the three-furlong marker K J Express came across sharply to visibly hinder the progress of Kalahari according to the stewards.

In the straight it was a fight involving K J Express on the outside and Lala Diva (Prince Holder) at 11-1 on the inside with K J Express lasting by a neck.

Then came the stewards and the disqualification of K J Express.

This was Holder’s second winner on the day and the first for in-form trainer Patrick Lynch.

The winning time for the distance was 1:00.4.
