KINGSTON, Jamaica - Drawn on the outside in a field of eight coming down the four-furlong chute in a two-year-old event, Burning Hedge delivered a significant performance, signalling a precious start to her racing career.

A chestnut filly by Hedge Fund out of Burning Clearance, Burning Hedge, trained, owned and bred by Carl Anderson with Shane Richardson replacing Youville Pinnock in the saddle, gained her debut success on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Burning Hedge outdid two other first-timers Danka (second), and the hot odds-on favourite Global Pursuit occupying the third slot. Danka was the first offspring of the Into Mischief stallion, Aveenu Malcainu to race locally.

Burning Hedge clocked a time of 48.3 seconds for the four furlongs with a two-furlong split of 24.2 seconds, winning by five lengths.

On her way to winning the second two-year-old contest of 2024, Burning Hedge left her starting stall in good order but could not go with the early speed of Danka, Foxy, and Global Pursuit.

Waiting patiently, Richardson decided to move after passing the dummy rails, and when Burning Hedge accelerated it was over and done with for the seven rivals.
