Julien Leparoux to ride Rough Entry in Mouttet Mile

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Conditioner of Rough Entry, Rohan Crichton has confirmed with Quickgallop.com that his charge will be ridden by visiting jockey Julien Leparoux in the Mouttet Mile.

The Mouttet Mile, the premier race on the local racing calendar takes place next Saturday, December 2, at Caymanas Park.

“Arrangement have been made, and I can officially announce that jockey Julien Leparoux will ride my horse Rough Entry in the Mouttet Mile.

“I am happy for this arrangement as Leparoux is a top rider, and I know he will give Rough Entry the best possible assistance in the saddle,” Crichton said.

Leparoux’s participation on the Mouttet Mile Race Day was confirmed on Friday (November 24).

According to Equibase, Leparoux has an impressive career record of 17,179 starts, with 2,955 wins, 2,463 second-place finishes, and 2,143 third-place finishes, totalling earnings of $192,738,721.

Leparoux has won seven Breeders' Cup races, including the 2015 Breeders' Cup Mile and the 2016 Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

On June 4, 2022, Leparoux became the fifth rider to win 1,000 races at Churchill Downs when he guided Walkathon to victory in the Grade 3 Regret Stakes.

Rough Entry has had a successful career in the United States, starting in 34 races and earning eight victories, six second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes. His career earnings total US$254,526.

In 2023, Rough Entry competed in seven races, securing two wins and four second place finishes but no third-place finishes.

Rough Entry's last race occurred on September 23, 2023 – a six-furlong Optional Claiming event – which he won with a time of 1:10.60.
