INVESTIGATION INTO THE COMPLAINT AGAINST TRAINER NICHOLAS SMITH REGARDING THE HORSE MINIDEWAK
As per Section 247 (5) of the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Rules, the First Instance Tribunal, chaired by Mr. Kent Pantry K.C., conducted an investigation into a complaint that was filed against Trainer Nicholas Smith concerning the alleged unauthorized sale of the horse “MINIDEWAK”.
During the hearing, evidence was presented by Trainer Nicholas Smith in his defense, along with Mr Garth McBean, K.C., Legal Adviser to the Commission.
After carefully considering all the evidence and submissions, the Tribunal determined that Mr. Smith violated the relevant regulations by failing to adhere to the rules governing the transfer of horses.
Due to the seriousness of this violation, the Tribunal imposed a fine of Two Hundred Twenty Thousand Dollars ($220,000.00) on Mr. Smith, which is to be paid within three (3) months of the ruling.
