KINGSTON, Jamaica - Jockey Tevin Foster showcased his skills as he guided Gregg Fennell-trained Milos to victory in a contest for three-year-olds and upward over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Foster ensured a strong start for the four-year-old bay horse, maintaining a slightly off-pace position as Legit Boss (Raddesh Roman) and Money Market (Dane Dawkins) exhausted themselves in the lead.
Patiently waiting for the front runners to falter, Foster employed an inside rail strategy as he expertly navigated Milos around the half-mile (800m) turn.
The pair capitalized on a rail run opportunity in the stretch when both Legit Boss and Money Market drifted wide off the curve. Seizing the lead inside the final furlong and a half (300m), Milos forged ahead.
However, Foster and Milos couldn't afford to relax as Acknowledgeme (Ramon Nepare) rapidly accelerated towards the finish line, seemingly assured of victory. With only yards remaining, Foster displayed his talent by outperforming Nepare and securing the win by a short head.
