KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Dick Cardenas landed his first ride for 2021, Helicopter, in the winners’ enclosure to start the nine-race Caymanas Saturday (Jan 30) race card.
Helicopter trained, owned and bred by Gordon Lewis, set off in front when the gates opened and was challenged in earnest by Commissioner (Robert Halledeen) around the turn. That effort by the latter was in vain as Helicopter who had a bad start on last when finishing second behind Sheboom was flying high - getting home by 14 lengths.
Commissioner was second with Expeditious (Ramon Nepare) third.
Helicopter was racing for the sixth time.
