KINGSTON, Jamaica – Despite not winning any of the two Guineas races, Jason DaCosta was still able to top the list of earners among the trainers over the two-days of the Guineas weekend (June 4-5).
DaCosta tallied three wins on the two days (I Am Fred, Sir John, and Baltusrol) plus many placing efforts to earn a total of $2,824,020. DaCosta finished third, fourth, and fifth in the 1000 Guineas, second in the Open Allowance | Graded Stakes event with Billy Whizz following winner I Am Fred.
Champion trainer Anthony Nunes had a subdued Guineas weekend with no winners over the two days with total earnings of $548,625. Nunes despite his slim returns on the Guineas race days was still able to remain in second place behind DaCosta.
Atomica’s victory in the 1000 Guineas paved the way for trainer Gary Subratie to earn $2,711,770 on the Guineas weekend. Subratie with this tally is just $134,390 behind Nunes in the championship.
Blue Vinyl brought great joy for his trainer Patrick Lynch with victory in the 2000 Guineas. That victory by Blue Vinyl saw Lynch earning $2,184.4000, to maintain his position of fourth on the trainers’ list.
Overall, when all earnings are calculated up to Sunday, June 5, 2022, DaCosta leads in the championship race by $6,126,350.
