KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was the chestnut filly Thalia by Soul Warrior out of Luminous Trieste who conquered all and sundry inclusive of the colts to win the 2023 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger at odds of 9-1.
Jockey Reyan Lewis kept Thalita off the front-end, as trainer Jason DaCosta sent his other filly and 1000 Guineas winner Mamma Mia to set the early splits.
Lewis gradually moved Talita safely along, and by the time it was time to enter the straight, she was ready to strike and that she did with aplomb.
In the final two furlongs, Thalita gathered momentum to score by six lengths.
Mosey Miser finished second, and Princess Sharon third. Noticeably, Money Miser and Princess Sharon are both conditioned by Fitzroy Glispie.
