KINGSTON, Jamaica - After finishing third in the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger, Ian Parsard, the trainer of filly Run Julie Run, has confirmed that she will compete in the 12-furlong Jamaica on August 6, 2024.

Rather than participating in the fillies-only Classic, the Jamaica Oaks on August 3, where she would be the odds-on favourite, Run Julie Run's connections have decided to enter her in the Blue Riband, Jamaica Derby.

Run Julie Run has already won the one-mile (fillies only) Jamaica 1000 Guineas in early June.

Parsard shared, "We thought that she ran well in the St Leger to finish third, 3 ½ lengths behind the winner, Intrestntimesahead, and second place Crown Chaser. Although the Jamaica Oaks is an easier option, we have faith in Run Julie Run's ability and her capability to be effective at 12 furlongs," Parsard explained.

"Run Julie Run came out of the St Leger in good order, has been training well, and will move straight to the Derby,"

Parsard also provided an update on his other horse, Mahogany.

“Mahogany is a special case. It is well-known that during his career, he has had several health issues. We have always had to be careful with him, and frankly, nothing has changed, now that he is seven.

"We will be monitoring Mahogany’s progress over the next two to three weeks and then see where we go from there," Parsard added.
