KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Andrew H B Aguilar Memorial Cup will be contested on the nine-race program scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Caymanas Park.

This cup race is designated for maiden two-year-olds covering a mile - the longest distance for the juveniles this season.

The Quick Galloper's preliminary assessment can be found below. Keep in mind that this evaluation is based on the Overnight program and is subject to change.

1 – MATUSO is a bay colt (born April 7) sired by Casual Trick and dammed by Puddy Pooh. Trained by Richard Azan, with Tevin Foster holding the reins, Matuso will race with blinkers and Lasix for the first time. He performed well 27 days ago, finishing closely behind Buttercup and Blu Sensation at seven furlongs. The extra furlong should not be an issue, and with Lasix introduced, he will be a strong contender in this race.

2 – HIMAYA is a roan filly (born March 23) sired by Casual Trick and dammed by Raksha. Trained by Jason DaCosta with Abigail Able in the saddle, she has gained the reputation of being the official two-year-old race filler.

3 – ROSETTA is a roan filly (born April 6) sired by Bold Conquest and dammed by Khadiliah. Trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis aboard, she has raced three times with six furlongs being her longest distance thus far. Stretching to eight furlongs may pose a challenge for Rosetta.

4 – BLU SENSATION is a bay filly (born February 12) sired by Sensational Slam and dammed by Blues In The Sky. Trained by Peter-John Parsard with jockey Raddesh Roman aboard, Blu Sensation will race with Lasix for the first time. She performed exceptionally well on November 19, finishing second behind Buttercup at seven furlongs. Given her recent performance, Blu Sensation has an excellent chance of winning this race.

5 – FRANCIS is a bay filly (born March 13) sired by Savoy Stomp and dammed by Jazzy Jet. Trained by Richard Azan with Delroy Beharie aboard, she has not raced for more than five furlongs in her two starts. Stepping up to eight furlongs will be a challenging task for Francis.
