KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh event of nine on Saturday, April 13, 2024, is the 2024 version of the Lady Geeta Trophy, a six-furlong call for three-year-olds at the Grade One level.

Six horses are entered including Mahogany, one of the top-rated horses in the land.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is provided below in order of the draw.

1 - A GIFT FROM BEN has been handicapped out of any chance of winning. On March 23, A Gift From Ben finished 8 ½ lengths behind winner Desert of Malibu at 6 ½ furlongs. Then A Gift From Ben carried 110 lbs and Desert of Malibu 119 lbs. Tomorrow, A Gift From Ben carries 101 lbs., and Desert of Malibu 118 lbs. The difference of 9 lbs. is wholly insufficient in giving a winning opportunity to A Gift From Ben, who unlike Desert of Malibu is yet to taste success in Open Allowance.

2 - NEO STAR has not raced in 49 days. Seems to be a filler for his more illustrious stablemate, Mahogany.

3 - YELLOWSTONE has made significant progress in recent times. Won convincingly on March 2, defeating the likes of Madelyn’s Sunshine and Press Conference. Yellowstone has speed and may prove to be a hindrance in the headlines. Against these, this is a defining run for Yellowstone.

4 - BIG BIG DADDY is here to give support to fellow stable companion, Desert of Malibu.

5 - MAHOGANY is racing for the first time since December 2, 2023, in the Mouttet Mile. This absence of 133 days, was a period of rejuvenation for Mahogany highly regarded as one of the better horses currently in training. As is the case, the majority of the time, Mahogany carries the top weight of 126 lbs. Mahogany usually performs well coming off a break, and the same can be expected on Saturday.

6 - DESERT OF MALIBU in eight starts has ignited much attention, winning six of those races, and losing one in the stewards’ room. This imported has won from five furlongs (straight) to a mile. She has speed, she can stay off the pace, and she packs enough to finish strong. Desert of Malibu recorded a good time of 1:19.4 (6 ½ furlongs) in her last win (March 23), on a slow track to further underline her potential. With only 118 lbs. in her back, Desert of Malibu at six furlongs will be difficult to deny victory number seven.
