KINGSTON, Jamaica – The tenth of ten on the Saturday card of April 29, 2023, is an Overnight Allowance event travelling a mile.
Thirteen horses are entered to compete for the Jamaica Veterinary Board World Vet Day Trophy.
The Quick Galloper’s analysis of the 13 entered is provided below.
– BLUE VINYL (Bern Identity – Blufield): The Blue Vinyl of old resurfaced in full on April 15, when he won a Restricted Overnight (6 ½ furlongs) call with ease. He returns again in Overnight, this time at a distance which fits his style of running. Difficult to oppose this former Classic winner.
– PERFECT BREW (Bern Identity – Moonlight Brew) after two unsuccessful attempts in the Open Allowance category, drops back to the lower Overnight Allowance grade. During his time in Open Allowance, Perfect Brew raced against better horses with the exception of Blue Vinyl. In this Saturday attempt, Perfect Brew allows weight to Blue Vinyl, and with the latter more secure going a mile, Blue Vinyl is given the green light to the winning post.
– MINIATURE MAN (Northern Giant – Runaway Gal) has been trying his best in the class above resulting in some on-the-board efforts. Miniature Man makes a return to Overnight, where he is more comfortable. Should find a place on the board.
– CRIMSON (Nuclear Wayne – Sarah Barracuda) races with the visor off. Crimson has not been able to find himself in recent times. Yet, based on back class, Crimson is not without a chance of winning.
– GAMBLER (Freedom For Eds – Keninisha) has no realistic chance of winning this one.
– D HEAD CORNERSTONE (Bern Identity – Soul of the Heart). Note, D Head Cornerstone races with the tongue tie-off. D Head Cornerstone is slowly getting the feel of Overnight Allowance. He meets formidable foes from his days as a three-year-old, and as such, his best outcome is to go home with an earning cheque.
– I REALISE (Northern Giant – Regina Royale) enters Overnight for the first occasion after a formidable victory in non-winners of four. Time is required for I Realise to get acquainted with the pace of his new calling.
– HELICOPTER (Storm Craft – Face Tracker) is another without a realistic chance of winning.
– OUTBIDDER (Savoy Stomp – Rumble). Note, Outbidder races with the visor on. Learning about this Overnight grade but cannot trouble the colts and geldings.
– BIG BIG DADDY (Natural Selection – Just A Flutter). Big Big Daddy is a mainstay and the epitome of consistency in the Overnight group. Rest assured, Big Big Daddy will hit the board.
– PRINCE MARSHALL (War Marshall – Princess Shine). Note, Prince Marshall races with the figure 8 on. Well-seasoned at this level. If Prince Marshall enters this Saturday's contest in the right frame of mine, he has an outsider’s option of having a say in this one.
– MARQUESAS (Coded Warning – Islamorada) is undergoing the difficult task of trying to find his true self again.
