KINGSTON, Jamaica – Apprentice Abigail Able hit the best form of her career as after winning last Saturday on Casual Affair, she was at her best in bringing home the Welsh Soutar trainer Top Eagle in the Caymanas Saturday (January 9, 2021) first.
Able waited in third as Paintthisrownred (Oshadane Robinson) shot to the front from the off with Treasure Train stalking a length or so behind the leader.
With Paintthistownred taking the runners into the lane, Treasure Train (on the inside - Nicholas Hibbert) and Top Gear were locked to each other. Paintthistownred gave up quickly with and the contest turned into a straight duel between Top Eagle and Treasure Train.
Treasure Train gained the advantage at the furlong pole but Able called on all her resources and got Top Eagle to respond, winning by 1 ½ lengths.
Treasure Train was second and old stager War Hero third.
This was Top Eagle fifth career victory from 82 starts.
