Shane Ellis pilots the first-timer
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Goliath The Great, a grey colt by Midnight Hawk out of Luminous Trieste, got his career off to a winning start in the Caymanas Sunday second, which was a three-year-old Maiden Condition event going five furlongs round.
With Shane Ellis in the saddle for trainer Robert Pearson, Goliath The Great wasted no time to hit the front with Bugatti (Robert Halledeen) coming from the outside draw to challenge.
Goliath The Great was an easy leader when they entered the straight but had to dig deep as Bugatti was not giving up. Bugatti got closer to Goliath The Great but when the winning post arrived the latter had 1 ¾ lengths to spare. Third went to Funometer.
The winning time was 1:02.1.
