KINGSTON, Jamaica – Both champion jockey Anthony Thomas and leading trainer Jason DaCosta earned a triple when It’s A Boy at odds of 7-2 won the Caymanas Sunday (July 10, 2022) seventh.
Before the seventh, Thomas and DaCosta were successful with She’s My Destiny in the first race and Midnight Blue in the sixth.
It’s A Boy racing in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of four) event going 7 ½ furlongs was the last to leave the starting gates, as Magical Mood (Roger Hewitt) set the early splits followed by Daddy Jones (Dick Cardenas).
Thomas took his time on It’s A Boy, guiding the bay gelding gently from the back. It’s A Boy made noticeable progress leaving the half-mile marker, entering the straight on the outside but with still much to do. Thomas got down to his work and It’s A Boy responded by significantly quickening his tempo to flash by all rivals half a furlong out, winning by 1 ¼ lengths.
Press Conference (Youville Pinnock) at odds of 43-1 found extra to finish second with Classical Orb (Bebeto Harvey) third.
