KINGSTON, Jamaica – The three-year-olds are coming out more and more of late. On Easter Sunday (April 17) that trend continues with 14 of the three-year-old cohort facing each other in a maiden condition event for fillies only at seven furlongs.
THE QUICK GALLOPER looks at the 14 in this contest to assess their chances of winning in their order of the draw positions.
Among the 14 starters, there is one first-timer, number 9, Midnight Beauty is a bay filly by Midnight Hawk out of Full Throttle trained by Wilfred Chin. Thus far, Midnight Beauty has done nothing of significance at exercise to merit any further consideration.
English Anne is a chestnut filly by Buzz Nightmare out of Very Hush Hush trained by Welsh Soutar. Even with the visor on, English Anne is still learning. SPECIAL NOTE: Very Hush Hush the dam of English Anne has already produced Admiral Snow and Let It Snow.
Never On A Sunday is a bay filly by Midnight Hawk out of Kenzie’s Charm trained by Maurice Crooks. Never On A Sunday was never in contention in her debut run on March 26. This filly is not ready to deal with these. Never On A Sunday races with the blinkers off and with first-time Lasix. SPECIAL NOTE: Kenzie’s Charm the dam of Never On A Sunday has already produced Rusty.
Pretty Girl is a chestnut filly by Deputy Glitters out of Runaway Queen trained by Jason DaCosta. Pretty Girl made her debut on March 26 and was hindered down the backstretch and in the straight but was still able to finish fourth behind Princess Alani. On Sunday, Pretty Girl will have 1 ½ furlongs more to travel which should improve her effort to win. SPECIAL NOTE: Runaway Queen the dam of Pretty Girl has already produced Will To Live.
Select Me is a dark bay filly by Natural Selection out of Excellence trained by Patrick Lynch. Select Me has raced twice and has nothing to show for these outings. Select Me races with the blinkers on. SPECIAL NOTE: Excellence the dam of Select Me has already produced Uncle Wal.
Zion Princess is a bay filly by Midnight Hawk out of Look At Me Now trained by Michael Beecham. Zion Princess has raced on six occasions, finishing second behind Princess Alani going 5 ½ furlongs. This filly will enjoy the extension in the journey but will have to be content with a minor placing.
Sunset Silhoutte is a bay filly by Natural Selection out of Ahwhofah trained by Jason DaCosta. Sunset Silhoutte has been prominent in all her four starts always failing to deliver when expected to do so. On Sunday, racing against fellow fillies, Sunset Silhoutte is provided with her best opportunity of shedding the maiden tag. Of significance is that champion jockey Anthony Thomas replaces Abigail Able in the saddle. SPECIAL NOTE: Ahwhofah the dame of Sunset Silhoutte has already produced Make My Day, Ali Baba, Super Cop, She’s A Maneater, Without Exception, Run Thatcher Run, and England’s Rose.
Minidewak is a bay filly by Lion Tamer out of Aura Mas trained by Anthony Nunes. Minidewak has the benefit of being one of the more experienced in this field but gives the impression that she will find it difficult with the distance.
She’s My Friend is a bay filly by Natural Selection out of My Friend Lucy trained by Jason DaCosta. Coming along well and with first-time Lasix, She’s A Friend in line for an earning position. SPECIAL NOTE: My Friend Lucy the dam of She’s My Friend has already produced Ricky Ricardo and Loose Ball.
Lady Ben is a bay filly by Here Comes Ben out of Lady Margin trained by Michael Marlowe. Lady Ben will continue to learn. SPECIAL NOTE: Lady Margin the dam of Lady Ben has already produced Doolahin, Smash Amusement, and Emerald Star.
Another Wave is a bay filly by Savoy Stomp out High Cube trained by Tyrone Prince. Failed to impress in her last two trips to the starting gates but before Another Wave raced prominently in the four other races, she participated. Another Wave has been showing up at morning exercise and is deserving attention in this one. SPECIAL NOTE: High Cube the dam of Another Wave has already produced My Dream, Mrs Kim, and Lava Boy.
North London is a bay filly by Savoy Stomp out of Right Marker trained by Ryan Darby. North London has been progressing in her races to date. A placing effort is in the offing for North London.
The Exodus is a dark bay filly by Fearless Vision out of Special Report trained by Steven Todd. The Exodus was well beaten on her debut by Lacrimae and Minidewak. Returns with first-time Lasix and will be among those seeking a minor placing. SPECIAL NOTE: Special Report the dam of The Exodus has already produced Queen’s Highway and The Genesis.
She’s Hall Dat is a chestnut filly by Market Rally out of Noassembledrequired trained by Alford Brown. She’s All Dat with the benefit of that first run should strip fitter and is expected to provide a better effort.
