KINGSTON, Jamaica - Following the triumph of Intrestntimesahead in the Miss Ruth Trophy on Sunday, December 17, his trainer Jason DaCosta is hopeful for more victories from the two-year-old bay colt.
Under the guidance of Phillip Parchment, Intrestntimesahead braved the challenging track conditions to clinch a victory over competitors by a margin of 11 ¾ lengths in the native-bred two-year-old maiden special weight race that covered a distance of 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).
The colt, a progeny of Bold Conquest and My Friend Lucy, racing for the second time, accomplished the distance in a time of 1:23.0 (24.3 x 50.0 x 1:25.4).
While the final time wasn't extraordinary, DaCosta was pleased with Intrestntimesahead's showing and said, "His win was praiseworthy. Although the competition wasn't intense, he did what was needed effortlessly."
DaCosta further expressed his hopes for the colt's future: "We anticipate that he will continue to evolve and become a challenger in more esteemed races."
Sporting a visor and racing without blinkers, Intrestntimesahead led the race from the beginning, staying ahead of Lady Lauren (Raddesh Roman), Oil Machine (Tevin Foster), and Bank Craft (Odeen Edwards) all the way.
Intrestntimesahead accelerated as the half-mile (800m) stretch approached, entering the final turn well in front of his rivals.
The bay colt emerged victorious, with Lady Lauren and Oil Machine trailing behind him.
