KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Quick Galloper has assembled some facts and figures on the ten horses competing in the 2023 Thornbird Stakes. The seven-furlong Thornbird Stakes, contested by three-year-old fillies as part of preparations for the Classic races, takes place today, Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Caymanas Park.

The 2023 edition of the Thornbird Stakes has 10 starters.

1 – Of the ten horses in the 2023 Thornbird Stakes, Mamma Mia has secured the most wins, three from five starts with stakes earned of just over $4.5 million. There is no maiden runner in this year’s event.

2 – The only unbeaten horse in the Thornbird is Bootylicious trained by Ian Parsard, who has a record of two wins from two starts.

3 – Nine of the 10 starters have raced in the 2023 season. The odd one out is the Jason DaCosta-trained Talita. Talita last faced the starter in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes on December 27, 2022.

4 – The horse with the most career starts in the Thornbird is horse number five, the Michael Thomas-trained Acknowledgeme. Acknowledgeme has eleven starts to her credit with one win and three second-place finishes.

5 – Last year’s winning combination of trainer Gary Subratie, jockey Dane Dawkins and groom Errol Thomas is represented in the 2023 edition by All For Love.

6 – The only listed grey in the field of ten, is horse number nine, Royal Ash, a roan (steel grey) filly trained by Anthony Nunes.
