KINGSTON, Jamaica – Following the resumption of racing after the COVID-19 break on June 29, jockey Anthony Thomas was finding it difficult to enter the winners’ enclosure.
But over the last four race days Thomas has had a revival and today he confirmed his form by earning a triple after just six races thus far on the Independence Day 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
Thomas’ third winner was Chief Prospect trained by Michael Francis. That win came in an Optional Claiming event ($250,000 - $200,000 for three-year-olds and upwards travelling a mile.
Thomas kept Chief Prospect behind the leaders, then started to motor with a furlong to go on the inside rails and the duo was able to get home by 1 ¾ lengths.
Holy Light (Omar Walker) prominent throughout was able to hold for second while Dallas after leading into the straight faded near the end but still finished third.
Thomas’ other winners were El Maestro and Adore Brilliance,
