JAMAICA RACING: I Am Fred In Another Show Of Class (Caymanas, Sat, June 3, 2023)
KINGSTON, Jamaica – I Am Fred confirmed his status as one of the best currently in training with a decisive victory in the two turn (nine furlongs and 25 yards) Grade One - Distinctly Irish Trophy despite allowing lumps of weight to rivals.
Jockey Reyan Lewis kept the Jason DaCosta trainee off the pace set by the lightly weighted She’s My Destiny.
Then with three furlongs to go, Lewis pressed the button to take the lead in the straight.
Lewis and I Am Fred then had to fight off stablemate King Arthur, who came with a strong late surge. It was win number four in 2023, by I Am Fred.
DaCosta saddled the first three horse by the post; I Am Fred, King Arthur, and Miniature Man.
