KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Phillip Parchment changed his riding routine on foreigner I Am Fred to achieve a resounding victory in the Caymanas Saturday nightcap – a three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance event going 7 ½ furlongs.
I Am Fred, in his previous races, showed a tendency for coming from behind, but today after emerging from the number 2 stall, Parchment pushed the bay gelding to the front, and although niggled consistently by Legality (Tevin Foster), I Am Fred was fighting fit, pulling away in the final furlong to win convincingly by five lengths.
Excessive Force (Linton Steadman) ran on to get second over Legality.
I Am Fred provided trainer DaCosta with his third win on the day and his eighth over the last three race days, while it was the second for Parchment.
