KINGSTON, Jamaica – He is 11-years-old but those years have not impaired Hover Craft from performing at his ultimate best.
With Anthony Thomas in the saddle for trainer Wayne DaCosta, Hover Craft racing for the 127th occasion, won his second race in a row with consummate ease in the Caymanas Sunday tenth.
Hover Craft after winning in high claiming seven days ago returned to a familiar stomping ground (Overnight Allowance) and demolished rivals by three lengths.
In this two-turn contest, Thomas kept Hover Craft within striking distance of the leader down the backstretch, Secret Traveller. Going into the half-mile turn, Supreme Soul spurted to the lead with Rohan Kabir and Marquesas giving chase as Secret Traveller backed off and with Hover Craft watching and waiting.
Marquesas (Calvin Bailey) then made a sharp move to take control in the lane with two furlongs to go. Thomas then turned the engine on Hover Craft to full blast and the old-timer responded like a youngster blowing by Marquesas to achieve his 20th victory.
Third went to Big Bang as Supreme Soul sputtered to fourth.
Hover Craft career earnings has now surpassed $20,000,000.
