KINGSTON, Jamaica – Alexa’s Lodge under a ride packed with class and strong determination by six-time champion Omar ‘Hot Walker’ Walker scorched the sand at the Park to win the feature event – the Miracle Cure Sprint.
The Miracle Cure was competed for by horses in the Restricted Allowance grouping – three-year-olds and upwards – non-winners of two – over 5 ½ furlongs.
When the starting gates opened Alexa’s Lodge was kept off the pace set by Princess Kyra (Daniel Satchell) with Whoshotthesheriff close by and Double Jeopardy not far behind.
When they entered the straight any horse in the front pack could have won this trophy race while the eventual winner Alexa’s Lodge was still not in contention.
The lead changed many times and then suddenly Walker switched the burners on Alexa’s Lodge on the outside and just got up in time to nick Double Jeopardy. Awesome Treasure finished third. The winning margins were a head by a short head.
Alexa’s Lodge, trained by Robert Pearson, clocked 1:06.3.
