KINGSTON, Jamaica – The first of the big three races on the Mouttet Mile Race Day is the fifth event, the 6 ½ furlong Bruceontheloose Sprint Trophy.

In its inaugural edition, eight horses are competing.

THE QUICK GALLOPER analyzes the eight contenders:

1 – LABAN has struggled in his recent two races (5 ½ and six furlongs) against sprinters but may benefit from the extra yardage in the Bruceontheloose. As the speed wanes in the final furlong, Laban will likely push for a spot on the board.

2 – MADELYN'S SUNSHINE ran an impressive race last time (6 furlongs), finishing just a length behind Mahogany. This filly is the frontrunner here, but her competitors have a better chance of catching her given this race's distance.

3 – OUTBIDDER can be ruled out as a potential winner.

4 – I'VE GOT MAGIC has not been in top form lately. Nevertheless, when this horse is at his best, he's certainly one to watch. Only time will tell which version of I've Got Magic will compete in the Bruceontheloose. However, based on past achievements, he cannot be ignored. Consider him for exacta and quinella wagers.

5 – ROJORN DI PILOT hasn't shown much in his last two outings; however, with stronger competitors taking part in the Mouttet Mile, this seven-year-old could be a spoiler.

6 – DESERT OF MALIBU joins the Bruceontheloose with four consecutive wins under her belt. This fast and classy contender has some supporters arguing that she should have been competing in the Mouttet Mile. Desert of Malibu doesn't necessarily need to lead; she can comfortably sit close to any leaders before making her move when needed.

7 – LUKSOL has speed but will likely fade as the race progresses. The Bruceontheloose's distance is beyond Luksol's capabilities.

8 – FREEDOM STREET will have to wait for another opportunity.
