KINGSTON, Jamaica - The seventh race on Saturday, March 2, 2024, is the seventh staging of the SVREL Trophy.

This event is a three-year-old and up Grade One call at 5 ½ furlongs, in which five horses are entered.

The Quick Galloper’s analysis of these five starters is provided below.

1 - EMPEROROFTHECATS was put in his place by Sensational Move, beaten by 4 ¼ lengths at five furlongs straight 14 days ago. Then Emperorofthecats carried 119 lb and has gained an additional two pounds compliments of the handicappers, while Sensational Move carried 120 pounds, and will now tote 126 pounds. An overall four pounds in handicap advantage is insufficient for a beating of 4 ¼ lengths.

2 - MADELYN’S SUNSHINE showed her usual speed but could not manage both Sensational Move and Emperorofthecats. Despite finishing 6 ¼ lengths behind Sensational Move, Madelyn’s Sunshine has moved from 117 pounds to 120 pounds, making it almost impossible for this mare to win based on the handicaps. Nevertheless, if left unmolested on the headlines, can upset.

3 - YELLOWSTONE is yet to prove that he can handle the top representatives in this grade. He however, enters this contest with a significant drop in weight, given him a real chance of winning.  Note, that Yellowstone races with the visor on.

4 - SENSATIONAL MOVE smashed rivals in an upset victory over five furlongs straight including Emperorofthecats and Madelyn’s Sunshine. With the handicaps in favour of Sensational Move is poised for another capital run.

5 - PRESS CONFERENCE is still learning to effectively compete against these rivals.
