KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hail Mary running at odds of 11-1 created the first upset of the day when she won the Caymanas Sunday third – a five-year-old and upwards Claiming ($180,000 - $150,000) event at five furlongs straight.

Hail Mary ridden by Oshane Nugent for trainer Nicholas Smith was aided in her victory run after the 4-5 favourite Union Four (Shane Ellis), prominent throughout, fell at the furlong pole. It was later announced that Ellis was in good nick after the spill.

Zi Beast (Matthew Bennett) set the early splits with Union Four close by. On the track proper, it was still Zi Beast as Hail Mary was not yet in sight. Then after the fall of Union Four, Nugent pounced with Hail Mary as Zi Beast faded, leaving Explosive Charge (Phillip Parchment) to mount a challenge which gave him the second place with Cat’s Rigger (Roger Hewitt) third.
