Seeking his seventh win from 35 starts, eight-year-old bay gelding, this time in the high claiming ranks, Green Gold Rush recovered from a poor start to defeat rivals by half-a-length in a three-year-old and upward Claiming ($1 million-$800,000) event at Caymanas Park on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
The Dalton Sirjue trainee was his usual problematic self at the starting gates, and when the starter pressed the go button, Green Gold Rush piloted by Dane Dawkins was slowly out in the seven-furlong contest.
Unperturbed Dawkins took his time, slowly moving Green Gold Rush through his eight rivals' pack. At the turn to enter the straight for the final two furlongs, Green Gold Rush was on the outside in third place.
Under purposeful guidance from Dawkins, the old-timer found his hoofs to surge by the leaders, while clocking a time of 1:28.2 for the distance covered.
It was of little surprise that Green Gold Rush was claimed from the event for $1 million.
