RACE TYPE: Five year-old and upwards Maiden Condition
DISTANCE: 6 ½ furlongs
KINGSTON, Jamaica - After a strong run on the inside rails to beat Jolly’s Dream (Christopher Mamdeen), the Tensang Chung trained Gorgeous Gift was disqualified and taken out of the race which was the fifth on the New Year's Day nine-race offering at Caymanas Park.
Gorgeous Gift was disqualified because her rider apprentice Jordan Barrett after weighing-in was found to be one kilogramme under the allotted weight. According to the Rules of Racing a rider is allowed only a difference of 0.5 kilogramme difference in weight (over or under) after a race is run.
The race was then awarded to Jolly’s Dream, who is named after jockey Vassell “Jolly Man” Najair who died while doing duties at the race track some years ago.
Jolly's Dream was ridden by Christopher Mamdeen and trained by Edward Stanberry.
