KINGSTON, Jamaica - Three of the nine races on the Sunday card of May 8, 2022, feature the three-year-olds including THE KINGSTON.

The first of these three-year-old races is the fifth (non-winners of two)  going five furlongs straight. Ten horses go to post.

  1. PEAKY BLINDERS is a chestnut gelding (April 16) by Distorted Humor out of Visionary Wonder trained by Steven Todd with Phillip Parchment in the saddle. Won well over the straight on debut on March 5. Peaky Blinders followed up at non-two with a second-place effort, then he was nowhere around the third time on the track. On Sunday (May 8), Peaky Blinders travels again down the chute, and while he is in with a chance, coming from the one draw will not help the cause of Peaky Blinders.

  1. RIDDIM is a chestnut filly bred in the USA (April 2) by Race Day out of Nabbed, trained by Ryan Darby with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. This first timer according to clockers, is a good-looking sort but is not ready yet. Note, Riddim the sire Race Day is also the father of Race Car.

  1. PHOENIX RISEN is a chestnut colt (February 16) by Traditional out of Impetus trained by Ryan Darby with Paul Francis in the saddle. Off the board in his last two starts, Phoenix Risen will be hard-pressed to overturn those efforts. Note, Phoenix Risen races for the first time for his new trainer.

  1. A GIFT FROM BEN is a chestnut filly (April 29) by Here Comes Ben out of Sage’s Giftbox trained by Rowan Mathie with Tevin Foster in the saddle. A capable filly who is comfortable among these. A Gift From Ben will not be out of it as she comes up against weaker opponents but will have to show some improvement to do so. Note, A Gift From Ben races with the cheekpieces on.

  1. BROMPTON ALEX is a chestnut colt (April 13) by Lion Tamer out of Peccadillo trained by Ryan Darby with Omar Walker in the saddle. Brompton Alex returns after a break of 91 days. He does so as a winner on his last outing over the straight, which shows a liking for this course. Cannot be left out of consideration. Note, Brompton Alex races with first-time Lasix.

  1. GOLIATH THE GREAT is a three-year-old grey colt (March 1) by Midnight Hawk out of Luminous Trieste trained by Robert Pearson with Dick Cardenas in the saddle – Got rid of the rider shortly after the start of the Sir Howard Stakes on March 13. Goliath The Great, however, was a winner on debut which speaks volumes of his capability. The highly thought of colt continues to work well in the mornings and could return with a big loud bang. Note, Goliath The Great races with the blinkers on.

  1. GIANT WHEELER is a chestnut gelding (April 29) by Northern Giant out of Khadiliah trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. Giant Wheeler's only hope is for a placing position.

  1. LION OF EKATI (USA) is a dark bay colt (February 14) by Tale of Ekati out of Indian Conduct - Has no chance of winning.

  1. DEGAULLE is bay colt (March 23) by Soul Warrior – Femme Doree trained by Philip Feanny with Youville Pinnock in the saddle. Got home through the steward’s room on April 18. Degaulle now faces tougher opposition and could earn his first legal win.

  1. LACRIMAE is a grey filly (March 10) by Savoy Stomp out of Pleasant Ending, trained by Philip Feanny with Jordan Barrett in the saddle.  Was all the rage on last but ended in fourth place in her first attempt in this grouping, and now drawn on the outside, Lacrimae is given an even chance of winning. Note, Lacrimae races with the tongue tie and figure 8 on.

CONCLUSION – Goliath the Great is the choice with Peaky Blinders, the main danger even from the one draw.
